Hold the box so that all of the book spines are facing you and that the titles of the smaller veritcal books can be read normallu. This is the front of the box. On the back of the box you will be able to see the hinges for the lid.

With the front of the box facing you, slide the bottom horizontal spine to the right .5″. Next, slide the left side panel of the same book towards you 1.25″. A secret compartment will be revealed. Inside the compartment is a key. Remove the key. Take the bottom book and push it away from you. The spine of the middle vertical book will drop down to reveal a key hole. (Use the key to gently pull it down if need be, it only comes down a little bit.) Insert the key and unlock the box.
